College Football 2014 Midseason Honors

College Football

dak

The first half of the 2014 college football season has had no shortage of surprises. The big news of the first half of the season is how Mississippi (*Insert abstract noun starting with an M such as Mayhem, Madness, Magic here*) has captivated the college football world. Over the past seven weeks, the Magnolia State has become the sport’s epicenter, as both Mississippi State and Ole Miss have unexpectedly rocketed up the rankings and into national title contention.

Bulldogs QB Dak Prescott has been the biggest breakout star of 2014, which is no surprise to the folks here at GP. Prescott has been the face of the sport’s most surprising success story. The junior dual-threat playmaker has guided the once unheralded and unranked Bulldogs to a No. 1 national ranking following three straight wins over top-10 teams (LSU, Texas A&M and Auburn). He’s also put himself at the forefront of the race for the 2014 Heisman Trophy.

Prescott certainly isn’t the only player who impressed during the first half of the season, though.

So which other players deserve honors for their performances in the season’s first seven weeks?

Here’s a look at Gridiron Perspective’s 2014 Midseason All-American, All-Conference and Freshman All-American teams.
